Dan Price, licensee of The Old Restoration, Cheltenham’s oldest pub has teamed up with the Festival Brewery to create a special brew to celebrate and commemorate the pub’s 350th year. Ten pence from every pint sold will go towards supporting a local charity.
Dan and members of the team from the pub will be visiting Andy Forbes, owner of the Festival Brewery tomorrow (Wednesday 22nd February) to assist brewing the beer which, all going well, will be ready to serve on Saturday 3rd March.
Dan Price said: “The team and I are really excited about creating a special beer for the Old Restoration – the pub is steeped in so much history and heritage that we wanted to commemorate that in some way.
It’s fantastic that we’ve got a local brewery on our doorstep that we can collaborate with on a project like this. We can’t wait to get to the brewery and see everything that goes into making a beer. Of course, the highlight for us will be sampling the first pint of Old Restoration Ale.
Andy Forbes, Owner of the Festival Brewery said: “We’re delighted to brew a beer for the Old Restoration. The pub has stocked some of our Festival beers previously which have been received really well by the pub’s customers, so I’m confident that they’ll enjoy Old Restoration Ale just as much!”
Speaking about the local charities that will benefit from Old Restoration Ale, Dan said: “We’ve yet to finalise and agree which charities we’ll be supporting but what we would like to do is encourage our customers to put forward their nominations of charities that they think could do with a little fundraising boost.
“One of our regulars, who is affectionately known locally as Dancing Ken has raised over £1million for various charities, so we’ll be asking him for his thoughts but if anyone would like to recommend a charity, then we’ll certainly look at all the options. It may be that we collect money for a different charity every week. What we are hoping to do however, is add another page of history to the Old Restoration’s already rich past.”
