Varsity Derby closes and The Almanac opens
The more eagle eyed of residents may have noticed some changes taking place on Friar Gate in Derby. Over the last week, the Varsity has been closed and re-opened on Saturday 21st May with a completely new offer and a new name, The Almanac.
The bar has undergone an investment of £45,000 which has seen the venue completely transformed. The Almanac also opens with a great new menu with a mouth-watering chargrill section and a number of dishes reflecting the warmer months such as the Chorizo and Sweet Pepper Pasta.
Another first for The Almanac is their new fresh cocktail menu which was given the thumbs up from customers on the bar’s first weekend of trading.
Rich Westwood, Manager of The Almanac said: “We’re delighted with the look of The Almanac and we’ve had nothing but great feedback from our customers. Over the years the Varsity has been incredibly successful but it’s important to stay ahead of the game and evolve. What we hope to achieve with The Almanac is a bar that offers the very best in food, drink, entertainment and of course, customer service."
“We’ve taken a good look at our offer and have introduced some new products on the bar including Peroni Nastro Azzurro and San Miguel and the new cocktail menu serving made-to-order favourites including Martini’s and Mojitos also reflects our premium feel."
“One of the more talked about elements of our refurbishment is the introduction of our karaoke room which got lots of visits on the opening weekend! The room host up to twenty people and you can sing the night away with over 2000 tracks available from soft rock to modern day pop, so it’s perfect for celebrations and get-togethers!"
